The implementation of AKRAB in the Public Service is one of the programs contained in the Service Circular No. 18/2005: Guide to Psychology Applications for Human Resource Management in Public Sector.
In this circular, the AKRAB Program Enforcement Guide in general has been described in the Application of Psychology in Intervention through the Self-Improvement Program (PPK), which is a method of managing human resources to enhance employee self-esteem. The program covers aspects of assessment, development, mentorship, counselling, support and advocacy for the officer himself.
To achieve the goal of enhancing the excellence of public servants, four key programs have been integrated into the matrix-based Self-Empowerment Program:
- Employee Assessment Program,
- Mentoring Program,
- Public Service Guide Partner Program; and
- Counselling Program.
At UiTM this programme is known as the PERASA and has been established at UiTM since 2003. However, it has been inactive since Bahagian Perkhidmatan Psikologi was dissolved on January 15th 2016 and now psychology and counselling services for staff has shifted to the Career & Counselling Centre, UiTM Shah Alam on May 16th 2019.
Currently, Career & Counselling Centre is in the process of applying Mesyuarat Majlis Eksekutif Universiti’s approval for establishment of AKRAB UiTM.
